Experience Hout Bay winners welcome you to the heart of the Bay

Over the past 6 months two local tour guide business operators took the honours at the “Experience Hout Bay” local tourism micro enterprise competition, and they have been very busy reaping the rewards. The “Experience Hout Bay” programme was introduced by Open Africa in partnership with the Hout Bay Partnership. The programme looks to support local upcoming tourism entrepreneurs to develop visitor experiences in Hout Bay into experiences that can be promoted and sold.

The programme awarded two enterprises a support package valued at R50 000 which includes mentorship, marketing and networking to help kickstart their businesses.

As the programme reaches its final stages the tourism entrepreneurs, Brent Thomas and his partner Colin Delcarme of Karbonkelberg Hikers and Phila Nogwavu of Tours of Hope have undergone training in Tourist Site and Field Guide courses, they have also received mentorship in Tourism Experience from Iain Harris of Coffee Bean routes and will be receiving mentorship from Deon van Schalkwyk in Financial Management. All this training is crucial for the creation and development of a financially viable and sustainable business for the entrepreneurs.

Both the Karbonkelberg Hikers and the Tours of Hope have undergone serious revamping and the tours now offer an experience that takes visitors right to the heart of Hout Bay which is through the people. Both the businesses will now include an amazing food experience which will take visitors through the communities of Hout Bay in Imizamo Yethu and Hangberg and stimulate all the senses. They will see, hear, smell, touch and taste the cultures and social activities and experience a typical day in the life of a buy viagra without a doctor prescription person from Hout Bay.

The programme has been extremely successful and the winners have gained immeasurable amounts of experience throughout the process. They have now been equipped with the tools they need to propel their businesses to new heights and offer a true experience of Hout Bay to local and international visitors.

Both the tour groups will be fully operational and ready to take tours just in time for the Spring/Summer season. They would love to welcome any and everyone who would like to experience Hout Bay from a different perspective where one can appreciate the simple things in life through food, stories and smiles.
